How to Compare Cleaning Quotes: Cleaner-Hours, Visit Time and Scope

A clear way to compare what each provider has actually included before you compare the quoted totals.

Published 6 November 2026

Separate cleaner-hours from time at your home

For this worksheet, cleaner-hours means the number of cleaners multiplied by the hours each person works. It helps describe the labour time in a quotation; it is not a standard measure of productivity or a promise about how much work will be completed.

Example: two cleaners working two hours each equals four cleaner-hours, with a two-hour visit if they work at the property together. One cleaner working four hours also equals four cleaner-hours, with a four-hour visit.

The arithmetic is the same, but the visits are not automatically equivalent. Tasks, property condition, working methods and the agreed scope can differ, so confirm the details instead of assuming the same outcome.

Ask each provider to state the number of people attending, how long the visit is expected to last, and whether those times are for each cleaner or for the team together.

Make the quotations describe the same work

Before comparing totals, write down the same property details and requested priorities for each provider. Then check that the answers cover the same points:

  • Service and property: the type of cleaning requested, property type, size or condition details the provider asks for.
  • People and visit: how many cleaners are expected and the visit duration, stated separately.
  • Tasks and limits: the priority work, anything excluded, and any item that needs advance discussion or confirmation.
  • Tools and products: who supplies them, what is included, and whether an option changes the quoted total.
  • Price: the amount for the agreed scope and any conditional or additional amount that still needs confirmation.

If a detail is unknown, mark it “not confirmed” and ask. Do not compare a confirmed total for one scope with a starting price or an estimate for another.

Give each provider the same property information and priority list. Fill in the answers from their quotation; blank fields are questions to resolve, not terms or charges assumed by this guide.

Confirm changes and unfinished work

Before accepting a quotation, ask the provider to confirm the agreed tasks, people, visit duration and total price in writing. If the requested work or visit changes, ask how the revised scope and any additional amount will be agreed. Also ask what to expect if the available time is not enough for every requested task; do not assume that unfinished work is automatically included in another visit.

These are questions for you to agree with each provider. This guide does not set a cancellation, refund, extra-time, touch-up or re-visit policy for any company.

A published Sapphire session example

Sapphire’s published Puchong general-cleaning package is RM100 for one cleaner for four hours. Sapphire tools and general detergent are an optional RM50 arrangement when requested. This is a package example, not an hourly rate or a quote for every property or service area; confirm location, session and availability with the team.

As of 23 October 2026, a full deep-cleaning or specialist-detailing package was unavailable. Limited detailed work using normal cleaning tools may be discussed as part of general cleaning, subject to the agreed work and available session. Please confirm current availability before booking. Read the detailed-work availability information.

To review Sapphire’s published general-cleaning session and tools amounts, use the cleaning session cost planner. It compares the published session and tools amounts; it does not confirm a booking or define included tasks.

Compare the details before choosing

Use the worksheet to resolve differences in cleaner count, time, tasks, tools and confirmed price. Choose based on the scope and arrangements that suit your home, not a number that leaves important details unanswered.
